Long Island is an amazing place! It’s located in southeastern New York State, stretching out into the Atlantic Ocean. The island is divided into four counties: Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk. Each county has its own unique character and attractions.

Brooklyn and Queens, which are boroughs of New York City, are known for their diverse cultures, vibrant arts scenes, and great food. Nassau and Suffolk, which are more suburban and rural, offer beautiful beaches, parks, and historic sites.

Generally speaking, and physically, yes. Brooklyn and Queens are parts of Long Island. But when people talk about “Long Island,” they almost always mean not Brooklyn or Queens, but Nassau and Suffolk counties, which cover the rest of Long Island and have a very different atmosphere and character.
